Nestled in the mountains and valleys of the Chattahoochee National Forest, Lake Nottely is one of the most scenic lakes in North Georgia.
Also known as the Nottely Reservoir, Lake Nottely stretches 20 miles upstream to the city of Blairsville, and was formed in 1942 by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). One of the main purposes of the lake is to generate power, which is one of the reasons it is emptied in many parts during the winter.
On most sunny days there are a few pontoon boats on the water, usually occupied by locals enjoying a good barbecue and visitors who picked up their rental from the town marina - Nottely Marina.
The waters are so peaceful, most fishers find it a great spot to find striper, trophy fish, hybrids, and more. Although Nottely is only located hours from Atlanta, many Atlanta residents opt to visit nearby Lake Lanier for their time on the water, making Nottely even more of a hidden getaway.
